Please help with identifying a Coach purse - is miniature C authentic?
I found a red Coach demi purse with miniature signature print (Creed# J2J-6622) at a high-end resale store. I tried using the drilldown, and it's not on there.Everything else looks good - the leather, the stiching, the zipper, hangtags etc. all look real. Is it definitely fake, or could it just be a really old style (1992)? Thanks for helping.

Okay, first, not to be rude, but Winkwink is wrong about the creed and the style number. I have authentic Coach bought from Coach stores. Not all coach says "manufactured." I just double checked the creed on my newest bag and it does not say "manufactured." It says "handcrafted." Second, Coach only started using 5 digit style numbers in 2006, so a bag from 1992 would have 4 digits after the dash. As far as your question, I cannot authenticate from the registration number. These are copied on knockoffs, so you never know.You could call Coach, but they will only give you the bag that matches the style number, but that does not guarentee it's real. If you think the bag is authentic, buy it. You could try to take it into a local Coach store to be examined, but a lot of stores no longer do this and refer you to send your bag in to Coach New York with a $20 shipping/handling fee to be authenicated. The address is on coach.com. But, if you are familiar with Coach and you feel this is real, then go for it. The easiest way to tell a fake is to look at the zippers and the lining, they are YKK zippers and on a signature bag, it should not have signature lining. You sound like you know what you're talking about with all of the details you have mentioned about the bag, so without seeing pictures of it, there's not much more I can tell you. If you purchase it and find out later it's fake, return it to the store. It is illegal to sell counterfeit handbags, even if the store had no prior knowledge to it being fake. I hope it's real and you get a good price!
EDIT: I looked at the pics, and although they are not the best, everything seems right. It looks like you have gotten yourself an authentic. Good for you! It may be the picture, but it looks like the hangtag is a bit worn. If it is, you can call Coach and give them the style number of the bag they will send you a brand new hangtag. I don't believe there is a charge. Just to clear up your initial question, if you are questioning the authenticity of the miniature signature line, then I can reassure you that the line is indeed real.
