It's hard to believe that such a prestigious international fashion icon had such humble beginnings! In 1906, Guccio Gucci started a small saddlery shop in Florence, Italy. Born into a family with a history of leather making, Guccio was a talented leather craftsman with an eye for European design flair.

Louis vuitton or gucci?

Should I buy the Louis Vuitton speedy 30 or the Gucci Hobo bag?? The cost is about the same. I've always wanted the speedy but like everyone has it and theres too many fakes out there these days. The gucci hobo is cute but it has a lower resale value on ebay for when I get sick of it.

What drove dizzy Helen to squeals of utter delight on Friday night? Not the fact that against all earlier odds she very nearly won the Big Brother tele -contest. Not the crowd's banners celebrating her high-decibel but low-sense exclamations. Not even the sight of Paul (plus countless friends and Adams family members) eagerly awaiting her emergence from the infamous house. No. What really got her going was the distinctive dark bronze gift-wrapping and logo-embellished ribbon that now envelops every purchase made at a Gucci boutique. And, of course, the G-monogram pattern of the dainty little handbag which she found within.

In front of a reputed seven million viewers, Paul made Helen's fashion dream a reality. Previously, on her birthday, she had eschewed a Gucci gift from the Big Brother people - opting, instead, for a party in which all her housemates could participate. But around 10 past 10 on Friday evening Helen finally became the very excited owner of a handbag (plus some perilously high heels) from this celebrated luxury goods house.

Like so many young women (and men, too), she is clearly in thrall to Tom Ford's revisionist strategy for Gucci. She might not even recognise his name - even if she did, dippy Helen would surely be the devotee most likely to assume that Ford is heir to a car-manufacturing plant in Dagenham or a world-famous rehabilitation clinic rather than the creative supremo of a truly great Italian luxury goods house. But as far as this endearingly dippy Welsh valley girl is concerned, nothing in today's world quite matches the glamour or status typified by those distinctive little Gs which dance across the surface of her brand-new bag.

The regeneration of this house has become a model for the entire luxury goods sector. Thanks to Ford's remarkable efforts, Gucci clothes are now worn by the latter-day jet-set - and every fashion devotee blessed with the combination of financial wherewithal and physical perfection required to carry off their sexy glamour.

Yet, while today's image of the Gucci brand may be drawn from Ford's influential runway shows, the Gucci business (like that of so many upscale fashion houses) is still driven by its accessories business. Gucci accessories are expensive. Their availability is restricted to a handful of exclusive and prestigious stores. Even so, these beautifully crafted shoes and bags have a certain accessibility for consumers who cannot quite contemplate the substantially higher price and stylistic edge of Gucci clothing.

Under Tom Ford's tenure, Gucci has produced a succession of covetable bag designs which have galvanised sales - and unleashed countless imitations. Indeed, the "hobo" and "Jackie" styles shown here must rank among the most -copied shapes in the history of luxury-brand leathergoods.

But Ford has something which so many rival designers lack: a consummate sense of timing. Having at first resisted the house's signature G-monogram canvas, he reintroduced it the moment that Gucci secured its first taste of renewed high-fashion credibility.

Now, those dancing Gs enjoy near-universal recognition - proclaiming status and fashion credibility in roughly equal measures. They echo the illogical yet compelling desirability of the Louis Vuitton monogram or Burberry's near -ubiquitous house-check. For carrying a G-monogram bag suggests membership of a stylistic coterie - the Tom Ford fan club, if you please. Know what? It clearly pleases Helen Adams very much.

My Gucci has a stain in it!?

I have a medium sized Gucci messenger bag with pink leather border and champagne colored Gucci fabric. I wore the purse with my new jeans yesterday and I just saw that the color from my jeans left a big blue stain on the back of my bag and I don't know how to get it out. please help me!!!!!

ok i know what that is like i have a white small purse and got blue ink on it... but i wouldn't put it in the wash... just if you have some magic Scrubber that dissolves the stain try that... maybe its tide or something but what i have is a gel tube and then you rub it on and leave it 1 to 5 minutes... then wash but you could get a wet rag and wipe it off. see if that helps. good luck.!

A GUCCI handbag bought from online auction site eBay never arrived, a jury was told yesterday.
Lucy Webber, of Rhosgadfan near Caernarfon, said she bid for the black leather handbag last March and paid pounds 41 for it but did not receive the package.

The 35-year-old denies fraud and claims a handbag she was later seen with was a different item.
The prosecution allege at Caernarfon Crown Court that Webber did nott like the bag and pretended it never arrived in order to claim the money back from the seller.

Webber is said to have shown off the bag to colleagues at the Royal Mail customer service office at Bangor.

But quizzed by her barrister Kim Halsall, Webber insisted the handbag was a replica, similar to the one on eBay, but bought on holiday in Spain for pounds 20 in July.

"I wanted the bag (on eBay), I bid for it, I won it, I bought it, I was very miffed when it didn't arrive. The bag I saw in Spain was very similar to it which is why I bought it," she told the court.
The court heard she refused to allow Royal Mail investigators to examine or photograph the bag until she had received legal advice during an interview .

Webber said she later lost the bag on a night out.

The mum-of-two said she had bought more than 80 items from eBay in the past three years including several handbags but investigator Neil Roberts said eBay records were checked and revealed she had not bought any other handbags.

The trial continues.

My Gucci purse. I just bought a Gucci purse from a thrift store that had a bin full of purses. I have no idea?

Gucci Jockey Hobo Bag, large?

Does anyone know the total cost of this bag in a store in Toronto (Gucci, Holt's, etc)?? I hate shopping in Yorkville so I don't wanna go check it out for myself. Online it comes to just over $1700 so if that's cheaper, I'd rather have it delivered to my door. (beige/ebony with brown leather trim)
Ok - I'm asking about this specific Gucci bag only AND I'm asking how much it would cost if I bought it at the Gucci store. I want to know if it's worth shipping it from the States or not (with some stores even with shipping, tax and customs, it's still cheaper than in Canada)

What you intend to use the pony for will determine the type of pony you go for. There are so many different types it is vital that the type is suited to the jockey's experience, capabilities and intentions. A novice jockey would not be as well suited to a youngster as they would be to a golden oldie that has been there and done it. There is always the dilemma that the pony may not be as easy to resell in a few years because of its age however this shouldn't outweigh what the pony would teach a little jockey in a few years. A ponies' character is key to whether you believe a successful partnership can be created between jockey and pony. If a pony is willing and acceptant then often the partnership will flourish, although naughty ponies loose the trust of their jockeys who then loose interest. It is therefore worth choosing a pony not just on its ability but their temperament too.

With such vast amounts of different ponies available for sale it is best to view as many as you can and get a feel of what is available on the market that suits your budget. It is important to stick to what you are looking for and not be tempted to go over budget on a pony that may have huge ability but could have a tendency to be naughty. Unless the correct help and schooling is at hand don't over face your child with a pony that is too much for a young novice rider as you will end up selling the pony for a much lesser price than you paid for it.

Do you know anything about the BLACK LEATHER GUCCISSIMA (Gucci) HORSEBIT?

I have been looking at this bag online for about two months now and considering buying one on Ebay. However, I went to the Gucci store in the Galleria (Houston) and the salesman informed me that this bag did not come in black. It only comes in a brownish and a burgundy color.
